a thousand women sing
within me
an ancient choir
vital and strange
— from Matrilineal
I am, first and foremost, a poet. A mother, designer, facilitator, caregiver and steward. My work is to foster and hone connection.
I facilitate workshops where poems can flow, revision can flourish, and the finer points of self publishing can be explored. I also build homes for projects to exist outside of the maker, including (but not limited to): chapbooks, websites, newsletters, blogs, zines and oracle decks.
Through my work of observing, writing & designing, I have witnessed degrees of isolation fall away on both individual and community levels. Our time on earth is fleeting, and I can think of no better way to fill it than by making and sharing art, by connecting in the most necessary, meaningful ways. By devoting myself to this work, I hope we come to understand and appreciate ourselves and one another - our identities, as well as our place within ecosystems & generations - more deeply.
When I am not at my desk, I am tending to children at our local LifeWays school, working in our flower garden, planning a poetry picnic, nose-deep in an Elizabeth Strout book, bedecking our old farmhouse with a mural, or traipsing around our beloved state of Maine.

guiding principles
Living words create worlds.
We have the power to shift the trajectory of your lineage.
The body and its senses are the poem detector.
Unseen forces assist us.
The process is medicine.
Beauty is a necessity.
Simplicity is worth befriending.
The creation of art, in any format, even without recognition or validation, is an ultimately worthwhile endeavor.
One needn’t travel to far-off places to experience magic or growth.
Connecting with others on this path is integral to both individual and collective mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.

The Pause Retreat in Midcoast Maine, October 2023

“I could not live in any of the worlds offered to me — the world of my parents, the world of war, the world of politics. I had to create a world of my own, like a climate, a country, an atmosphere in which I could breathe, reign, and recreate myself when destroyed by living. That, I believe, is the reason for every work of art.” - Anaïs Nin
