a thousand women sing
within me
an ancient choir
vital and strange
— from Matrilineal
Kat Farrell-Davis is a poet, multidisciplinary artist and facilitator.
If a life well-lived was a summation of the relationships one had, what sort of connection would you seek right now?
This is the question at the heart of my work as a writer, designer & multidisciplinary artist. I have spent half a lifetime getting clear on the type of connection I seek — chasing it, honing it, through whatever it is I am creating. As such, my work is purposefully small-scale, by and large shared in person.
I support fellow students of Poetry Forge and a select handful of other writers in navigating the art of publishing, getting clear not only on the connection desired, but the soulful, enriching experience of birthing a body of work .
My upcoming book Matrilineal is due out August 2025. You can find a sampling of my work on Substack.

guiding principles
Living words create worlds.
We each have the power to shift the trajectory of our lineage.
Unseen forces assist us.
The process is medicine.
Beauty is a necessity.
Simplicity is worth befriending.
The creation of art, in any format, even without recognition or validation, is an ultimately worthwhile endeavor.
One needn’t travel to far-off places to experience magic or growth.
Connecting with others on the poet’s path is integral to both individual and collective mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.

“I could not live in any of the worlds offered to me — the world of my parents, the world of war, the world of politics. I had to create a world of my own, like a climate, a country, an atmosphere in which I could breathe, reign, and recreate myself when destroyed by living. That, I believe, is the reason for every work of art.” - Anaïs Nin
